Ian taught gifted students in Garden Grove, California where he grew up as a gifted kid himself. On his journey to become a teacher, he earned a degree in Computer Science, briefly played bass in an almost successful rock band, and married a fashion designer. Lisa Van Gemert

Lisa grew up as a real, live gifted kid in California, where she devoured Nancy Drew mysteries and played soccer. She got a couple of degrees that let her teach elementary and high school, and then become an assistant principal. She was the Youth & Education Ambassador for Mensa, the expert consultant to some television shows about gifted kids, and she writes books about giftedness, including the award-winning Perfectionism: A Practical Guide to Managing Never Good Enough.
